The Original Letter People
This article is about the original 1969 - 1996 Letter People

Miss U is a vowel girl. Her sound is the same sound that starts Upsy-Daisy Umbrella.

Bio[]

“Miss U's Umbrella goes upsy-daisy;
It tells us all not to be lazy.
Under and over, around and through,
Fly with the umbrella and Miss U.”

Miss U loves her Upsy-Daisy Umbrella, and is never featured without it. Her original character trait is "Umbrella Face", which is also described in her character song. The "Upsy-Daisy" part comes from the fact that she can float in the sky using her umbrella (somewhat like Mary Poppins) whenever words are used that start with her sound.

In Alpha Time, her umbrella is a separate entity which she received from Letter People Land to protect her skin from getting sunburnt. Miss U hides under it and the Letter Girls wonder why she will not come out, offering her sunglasses or a hat instead. The umbrella soon takes on a mind of its own and floats Miss U away from the other Letter Girls to avoid her making friends with them. The umbrella wants Miss U all to itself as her only friend, but eventually, after talking with Miss U, realizes that Miss U would like to have other friends, and lets her float down again.

Appearance[]

Miss U has blue eyes and a smile peeking from behind her umbrella in Alpha One. Originally, her face was completely hidden by it. In Alpha Time, her [umbrella's] eyes are orange. Her skin color varies and is unknown in Alpha One, but could be red or pink; in Alpha Time it could be an orange color, or possibly peach. She has long, red, curly hair, which is shown from the back on her Huggable design, and sometimes she wears a blue ribbon with yellow polka dots. She holds a pink, green, blue, and yellow umbrella. In Alpha One, her dress is pink with a hatched-line pattern, her umbrella has a green tag with her lowercase "u" on it, and she wears red, blue, and green shoes with pink socks. As for Alpha Time, her outfit is simpler: a blue dress and yellow shoes with pink buttons. She also carries another umbrella folded up in one hand which bears her lowercase letter "u".

Her design was changed for the TV show, giving her purple skin, blonde hair in ringlets, green eyes, a long yellow and green dress, and a yellow umbrella. She does not hide her face with the umbrella in the TV series, but rather carries it around.
